Google requires EU and UK Android developers to list phone number
Original: EU/UK Android Devs need to put phone number on Play Store Listing
Google is requiring Android app developers in the EU and UK to display a phone number on their Google Play Store listings. The change, documented in Google's developer support pages, means independent developers must make contact details public, which many worry will expose them to spam and abuse. Developers are debating the privacy implications and whether alternatives such as voicemail-only numbers satisfy the requirement.
Why now: Small developers are concerned about being forced to publish personal contact details publicly on their app listings.
