Ex-NASA chief economist to lead Canadian Space Agency

Original: Ex-NASA chief economist Alexander MacDonald to lead Canadian Space Agency

Alexander MacDonald, formerly NASA's chief economist, has been named the next head of the Canadian Space Agency. The appointment draws attention because of his unusual background, bringing economic expertise rather than a purely technical or astronaut profile to the top job, at a time when Canada is weighing bigger investments in space programs and partnerships.

Why now: A senior NASA figure taking over Canada's space agency signals possible shifts in Canadian space policy and international cooperation.
