Singapore has launched a government-run dating app for public employees, matching singles with a Nobel Prize-winning algorithm. The move comes as the country's birth rates hit record lows, with officials apparently hoping to encourage pairing up among civil servants. It is the latest in Singapore's long-running state efforts to boost marriage and family formation.
Why now: The unusual step of a government running a dating app amid record-low birth rates is striking and widely shared.
