Republican urges Trump administration to rethink immigration agenda
Original: Republican urges Trump administration to ‘step back’ and rethink immigration agenda
A Republican lawmaker has publicly urged the Trump administration to 'step back' and reconsider its immigration agenda, according to the Guardian. The call for a rethink from within the president's own party highlights growing unease among some Republicans over the direction and consequences of current immigration policy, and is drawing attention amid ongoing debate over the administration's hardline approach.
Why now: Rare public criticism of the Trump administration's immigration agenda from within the Republican Party is notable amid ongoing policy battles.
