South Korea plans to expand the anti-piracy operations of its Cheonghae naval unit closer to the Strait of Hormuz, near Oman's port of Duqm, reportedly under US pressure linked to tensions with Iran. The development comes as Trump stresses the importance of the Iran conflict following the midterm elections. Observers see it as a sign of mounting international involvement in the Gulf standoff.
