Calls are growing for English cricketers to reconsider taking part in an upcoming T20 tournament in Afghanistan. The appeal comes amid ongoing concerns over women's rights under the Taliban, who have barred women from playing sport. Supporters of the boycott argue that participation would normalise the regime's restrictions, while others say player involvement could help keep the game open to Afghan fans.
Why now: Debate over whether athletes should engage with Afghanistan while the Taliban bans women's cricket has resurfaced ahead of the tournament.
