Pete Hegseth to Cut 20% of Senior Generals
Original: Hegseth to cut 20% generals
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is ordering a reduction of about 20% in the number of general and flag officers across the armed forces. The move, part of his push to streamline military leadership, is drawing debate over whether it will improve efficiency or weaken the Pentagon's command structure.
Why now: The sweeping cuts to senior military leadership are an unprecedented and controversial restructuring of the Pentagon's top ranks.
