Senate blocks report on Israeli violence in West Bank
Original: Senate blocks measure requiring report on Israeli violence in West Bank
The US Senate has blocked a measure that would have required a report on Israeli violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The vote follows months of rising settler violence and worsening conditions in the territory amid the Gaza war. Supporters of the measure argued the administration needed clearer information on the situation, while opponents viewed it as unfairly targeting a key ally.
Why now: US policy toward Israel and the West Bank is under intense scrutiny during the Gaza war, making the vote contentious.
