Original: Documented’s Mazin Sidahmed On the Importance of Building Local News By and For Immigrants
Mazin Sidahmed, co-founder of the news outlet Documented, is discussing why local news coverage by and for immigrant communities matters. Documented focuses on immigration reporting in New York City, aiming to serve readers often overlooked by mainstream outlets. The conversation highlights how immigrant-focused journalism can fill gaps left by shrinking local newsrooms and give communities practical information about their rights and lives.
