Original: 'We will defend every inch of NATO territory’: Rutte dismisses Russia’s nuclear threat
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte declared that the alliance will 'defend every inch of NATO territory' while dismissing Russia's nuclear threats. His remarks underline NATO's firm stance amid ongoing tensions with Moscow over the war in Ukraine, reassuring member states that Russia's nuclear saber-rattling will not deter the alliance's collective defense commitments.
Why now: Ongoing Russia-Ukraine war tensions and Russian nuclear rhetoric are keeping NATO's deterrence posture in the spotlight.
