The head of EDF has backed new gas and oil projects in the UK, describing them as a 'no-brainer', according to the Guardian. The comments land amid ongoing debate over Britain's energy strategy, the climate crisis and the role of fossil fuels, touching on politically sensitive questions around Labour's energy policy and figures such as Andy Burnham.
Why now: The comments are provocative because they clash with climate concerns and feed the heated UK political debate over fossil fuel licensing.
