Congress Heads to Midterms With No AI Legislation

Original: Congress Set to Leave Washington for the Midterms With No A.I. Progress

Congress is set to leave Washington ahead of the midterm elections without passing any major legislation on artificial intelligence. Despite numerous hearings and proposals on AI safety, regulation and innovation, lawmakers have failed to advance comprehensive rules, leaving the US without a federal framework as AI technology continues to spread rapidly across industries.

Why now: Lawmakers are departing for the midterm campaign season having failed to deliver on widely expected AI regulation.
