An atheist commentator has drawn a direct parallel between religious belief and childhood belief in Santa Claus, arguing that both teach moral behaviour through rewards and punishment — heaven and presents for the good, hell and a lump of coal for the bad. The post urges believers to abandon what it calls belief in 'invisible magicians' and face reality as adults.
