Hegseth Announces Sweeping Cuts to Military's Top Ranks

Original: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Announces More Sweeping Cuts to the Military's Top Ranks

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced a new round of sweeping cuts to the US military's most senior ranks, removing or reassigning additional top officers. The move extends an unusual shake-up of Pentagon leadership under the Trump administration, and is drawing attention over its scale and the criteria used to decide which generals and admirals are pushed out.

Why now: The unusually broad purge of senior military leadership is raising questions about politicization of the Pentagon.
