Indonesian Police Focus on Humanist Approach to Online Escalation
Original: Humanist Approach and Digital Space Management becomes the Focus for Police in Preventing Escalation
The Indonesian National Police say a humanist approach combined with management of digital spaces is now the focus of efforts to prevent tensions from escalating. The force frames this as a strategy of dialogue and careful monitoring of online discourse rather than heavy-handed intervention. Details on specific cases or measures were not provided in the announcement.
Why now: Police are publicly signalling a softer approach to policing online speech, likely in response to controversy over digital repression.
