Efforts to reconnect Greater Yellowstone habitat, one fence at a time
Original: Reconnecting Greater Yellowstone, one fenceline at a time
Conservation work is under way across the Greater Yellowstone region to remove or modify fences so wildlife can move more freely between seasonal habitats. The Montana Free Press reports on projects that take down barriers along fencelines, opening migration routes for elk, pronghorn and other animals in one of America's most important wildlife corridors.
Why now: Wildlife corridor restoration and fence removal projects are drawing attention as a practical conservation approach in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem.
