Original: Over 60 bears euthanized in East Tennessee due to 'human-bear conflicts' in 2026

Wildlife officials in East Tennessee have euthanized more than 60 bears in 2026, citing human-bear conflicts as the reason. The figure points to growing friction between bears and residents, likely driven by habitat overlap and food attractants. The report has drawn attention to how the region manages its black bear population as encounters with people increase.

Why now: The high number of euthanized bears raises concern about wildlife management practices in the region.
