Singapore government dating app uses stable matching algorithm
Original: Singapore govt dating app uses Gale-Shapley stable marriage algorithm
Singapore's government-run dating service is reported to match users using the Gale-Shapley stable marriage algorithm, the classic economics method that pairs participants so no two would rather be with each other than their assigned partners. The detail has drawn amusement and interest online, with people noting the unusual use of a textbook matching algorithm for a state-backed dating app.
Why now: It is a surprising example of a well-known academic algorithm being deployed in an official government dating service.
