Burnham says Brexit referendum possible in Labour manifesto
Original: Brexit referendum 'possible' in Labour election manifesto, says Andy Burnham
Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, says a second Brexit referendum is 'possible' in Labour's election manifesto, signalling openness to putting any Brexit deal back to a public vote. His comments fuel the ongoing debate inside Labour over whether to back Remain, back the deal, or back a People's Vote at the next general election.
Why now: Labour's position on Brexit is a central fault line in UK politics ahead of the election, so any senior figure signalling a referendum commitment draws attention.
