University of Nevada, Reno launches animal science degree program
Original: UNR launches animal science program to keep students in-state
The University of Nevada, Reno has launched a new animal science program aimed at keeping students in the state rather than losing them to out-of-state universities. The program gives Nevada students a local path into animal science and related agricultural careers, and supporters hope it will strengthen retention of talent within the state.
Why now: Nevada previously lacked an in-state option for students wanting to study animal science, so the new program addresses a gap in local higher education.
