Original: 'If we can get a decent deal, we are definitely going to 24' — CFP leaders discussing logistics of 24-team playoff
College Football Playoff leaders are discussing the logistics of expanding the postseason tournament to 24 teams. 'If we can get a decent deal, we are definitely going to 24,' one leader said, indicating the expansion hinges largely on securing a favourable media rights agreement. The talks mark a potential major escalation from the current playoff format, though financial and scheduling details remain unresolved.
Why now: Expansion would dramatically reshape college football's postseason and the money around it, so fans and media are closely watching negotiations.
