Australia avoid ODI series sweep by South Africa
Original: Australia deny South Africa series sweep as Carey returns to form in rain-affected third ODI
Australia stopped South Africa from completing a clean sweep of the one-day international series by winning the rain-affected third ODI. Wicketkeeper Alex Carey returned to form with a key batting performance as Australia avoided a 3-0 series defeat. The weather-shortened contest in South Africa gives Australia a consolation win ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Why now: Australia avoided a full series whitewash and Carey's return to form is notable ahead of future selection decisions.
