Artist opens commissions to cover food costs
Original: Taking # commissions to get # food for the week. My paycheck for the week was short and had to pay towards rent. 5 slots
An artist who goes by SkullOwl has opened five commission slots, saying a short paycheck forced them to put their money toward rent and left them short on food money for the week. They are promoting character art commissions, including work for Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder players, through their Ko-fi page and the CommissionsOpen hashtag.
Why now: People are talking about it because it highlights how financially precarious freelance art work can be, with rent and food insecurity driving artists to sell commissions.
