Teens Turn Illegal Dump Site Into Kensington Community Garden
Original: Teens transform vacant Kensington lot from illegal dump site into community garden
A group of teenagers in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood has cleared a vacant lot long used as an illegal dump site and turned it into a community garden. The project transforms a blighted space into somewhere residents can grow food and gather, and it is being highlighted as a grassroots example of young people improving their own block.
Why now: The positive, youth-led cleanup of a long-neglected lot resonates as feel-good local news.
