California Governor Gavin Newsom climbed the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, in what the New York Times framed as a symbolic step toward higher political ambitions. The stunt is drawing attention as speculation builds about a possible 2028 presidential run, with observers weighing the optics of the governor's high-profile photo opportunity.
Why now: Newsom's bridge climb is being read as a calculated gesture ahead of a possible 2028 presidential campaign.
