RFI reports that UNRWA has secretly transferred its archives to Jordan to safeguard the documentary memory of Palestinian refugees amid the Gaza war. The agency, facing attacks and accusations from Israel and an uncertain future, sought to protect decades of records on refugees. Commenters link the move to broader concerns about Palestinian history being erased.
Why now: The Gaza war has put UNRWA under existential threat, making the preservation of refugee records newsworthy.
