Film fans debate movies with more needle drops than plot
Original: I don’t think you should have more needle drops than plot. # movies https:// boxd.it/gzv7rD
A film buff is arguing that movies shouldn't have more needle drops — pre-existing songs on the soundtrack — than actual plot. The quip, shared alongside a Letterboxd entry, strikes a chord with viewers tired of soundtracks doing the heavy lifting where story should be. It feeds an ongoing debate about style over substance in modern filmmaking.
Why now: People are debating whether directors increasingly lean on popular music instead of strong storytelling.
