Hegseth Slashes Generals, Admirals and Military Education Programs
Original: Hegseth Takes an Axe to Generals, Admirals and Military Education | Command Post
Pete Hegseth, President Trump's defence secretary, is overseeing a sweeping purge of senior military leadership and a downsizing of military education institutions, removing generals and admirals from their posts. The moves have drawn sharp commentary, with critics framing it as an unprecedented political reshaping of the Pentagon's top ranks and professional military schooling.
Why now: The dismissal of senior officers and cuts to military education are being discussed as an extraordinary intervention by the defence secretary in Pentagon leadership and culture.
