Russia threatens nuclear response if NATO cuts off Kaliningrad
Original: Russia warned NATO it would be ready to resort to nuclear weapons if the Western alliance tried to cut off Kaliningrad,
Russia has warned NATO that it would be ready to use nuclear weapons if the Western alliance tried to cut off Kaliningrad, its exclave on the Baltic Sea bordered by EU and NATO members. The warning heightens tensions over the strategically isolated territory, with analysts viewing it as another signal of Moscow's willingness to invoke nuclear escalation in the confrontation with the West.
Why now: Escalating nuclear rhetoric from Russia toward NATO raises fears of direct confrontation in Europe.
