Baptist Minister Says Black Church Blocks Black Women from Leadership
Original: Baptist Minister Says Black Church Champions for Civil Rights to Reign but Hesitates to Let Black Women Lead
A Baptist minister argues that while the Black Church has long championed civil rights and remains a powerful force in the community, it continues to hesitate when it comes to letting Black women take on leadership roles. The claim has reignited debate over gender equality within church hierarchies and whether historic institutions are willing to extend their fight for justice to women inside their own ranks.
Why now: It touches on an ongoing tension between the Black Church's civil rights legacy and its treatment of women in leadership.
