Original: gerhard delling

Former NDR sports presenter Gerhard Delling is serving as a lay judge in the Hamburg trial known as the Block case. On the 78th day of hearings, he told DIE ZEIT he hopes 'this nightmare ends soon', voicing his exhaustion with the lengthy proceedings. His remarks are drawing attention to the trial's length and the burden placed on those involved.

Why now: Delling's unusually candid comments on the long-running Hamburg trial have drawn fresh public attention.
