Original: ‘Return to Me’ and the lost art of ’90s rom-com filmmaking

Writers are revisiting the late-'90s and early-2000s heyday of the genre, when modestly budgeted, character-driven love stories regularly reached cinemas, and asking why that style of filmmaking has faded.
Why now: Nostalgia and ongoing debate about the decline of the theatrical romantic comedy are driving renewed interest in older genre films.
