Fact-checkers dispute far-right account of Bagayoko mortar incident

Original: mortier

French fact-checking outlet CheckNews, run by Libération, says it has located a video that contradicts the far right's version of events involving Bally Bagayoko and a burning rubbish bin, an episode that circulated widely on social media. The finding challenges claims used to fuel a political controversy in France, and the case is drawing attention as debates over disinformation and security continue.

Why now: A fact-check has directly contradicted a widely shared far-right narrative about a French political figure, prompting debate.
