Rights group calls Gaza 'largest and harshest ghetto' in modern history

Original: Israel turned Gaza into 'largest and harshest ghetto' in modern history, Euro-Med says

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has accused Israel of turning Gaza into what it describes as the largest and harshest ghetto in modern history. The Geneva-based organisation made the claim in its ongoing criticism of Israel's military campaign and blockade of the territory, language that is drawing attention and controversy given its historical connotations.

Why now: The rights group's incendiary historical comparison is fuelling debate over the conduct of the war in Gaza.
