Trump removes TSA agents' chairs citing fitness requirements
Original: Trump removes chairs for TSA agents, saying they ‘must meet fitness for duty requirements’
The Trump administration has ordered chairs removed from TSA screening checkpoints, saying agents 'must meet fitness for duty requirements'. The move forces security officers to stand throughout their shifts, drawing criticism from union representatives and travellers who argue it will worsen fatigue and conditions at airports without improving security.
Why now: The unusual policy of removing chairs for airport security staff is seen as symbolic of a tougher stance on federal workers, sparking debate about working conditions.
