Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy issued a message thanking the country's defenders and thousands of defense industry workers, saying they are working to push what he called Russia's 'sick war' back to where it came from and to ensure Ukraine has the means to respond to Russian attacks. The statement underscores Kyiv's growing emphasis on domestic arms production alongside frontline fighting.
Why now: Ongoing Russian invasion keeps Ukrainian presidential statements about defenders and weapons production in heavy circulation.
