Nicolas Cage criticised Marvel films at a fan convention, calling them 'a glorified WWE' with over-50s actors in 'ridiculous outfits' endlessly preparing for superhero fight scenes. The star of Spider-Noir insisted he 'spoke with love', saying it pained him to see gifted actors repeatedly gearing up for such roles. His remarks have reignited debate over whether superhero blockbusters waste established dramatic talent.
Why now: A major star openly mocking the dominant superhero genre is striking and quotable, feeding ongoing arguments about Marvel's quality and casting.
