Andy Burnham pushes socialist reforms

Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, is promoting a set of socialist-leaning policy reforms, positioning himself on the left of British politics. Commentators see the move as part of an effort to shape the Labour Party's direction and possibly stake out a leadership challenge, with supporters welcoming the agenda and critics questioning its practicality.

Why now: Burnham is widely viewed as a potential future Labour leader, so any leftward policy push fuels leadership speculation.
