Atheists call 'open your heart to God' a euphemism for imagination
Original: Theists: “Open your heart and let God in” is just another way of saying “Use your imagination” ______________________ #
A claim circulating online argues that when theists urge people to 'open your heart and let God in,' they are effectively telling others to 'use your imagination.' The quip has struck a chord in atheist circles and is drawing responses about faith, belief, and how religious experience is framed. Critics of religion see it as a pointed reframing of devotion as fantasy, while believers treat it as a caricature of spiritual practice.
Why now: The aphorism is a provocative atheist critique of religious faith, so it is being shared and debated within religion and atheism discussions.
