Evolution and climate change dropped from Florida's proposed science standards
Original: Evolution and climate change are missing from Florida's proposed science standards
Florida's proposed new science standards omit evolution and climate change, according to WFSU News reporting on the draft guidelines. The omission affects what public school students in the state would be taught, and has drawn criticism from science educators and education advocates concerned about the accuracy of classroom instruction.
Why now: The proposed standards are under review, and their omission of two core scientific topics has sparked debate over science education in Florida.
