Labour conference rejects motion to cancel Palantir NHS contract

Delegates at the Labour Party conference voted down a motion calling on the government to cancel its £330m ($437m) contract with Palantir to process NHS patient data. The motion was put forward by the Labour-affiliated Socialist Health Association and three constituency parties. Critics have long opposed Palantir's involvement in the health service over privacy and privatisation concerns, and the conference's refusal to back the cancellation is drawing criticism from the party's left.

Why now: The conference vote keeps the controversial data firm's NHS contract in place, angering Labour's left wing.
