Pennsylvania lawmaker seeks protections for digital game buyers
Original: Pennsylvania lawmaker seeks protections for digital video game buyers
A Pennsylvania lawmaker is proposing new protections for people who buy video games digitally, pushing back against the risk of losing access to purchased titles when publishers shut down servers or revoke licenses. The move reflects growing concern among gamers that digital purchases, unlike physical copies, can effectively disappear through no fault of the buyer.
Why now: Gamers increasingly worry about losing access to digital purchases as publishers delist or disable games.
