The bishop of San Diego has declared that 'faith must speak' on behalf of immigrants, urging protection of their human dignity. The statement frames immigration as a moral and religious issue, calling on people of faith to advocate for migrants. It adds a prominent Catholic voice to the ongoing debate over immigration policy and the treatment of undocumented communities in the United States.
Why now: Immigration remains a contentious political issue, and a bishop's public moral appeal draws attention to the religious dimension of the debate.
