ALPA Praises Senate Panel Vote on NMB Nominee Doug Ralph
Original: ALPA Applauds Senate HELP Committee Vote Advancing Capt. Doug Ralph's NMB Nomination
The Air Line Pilots Association praised a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee vote advancing Captain Doug Ralph's nomination to the National Mediation Board. ALPA, the largest pilots' union in North America, had pushed for confirmation, calling Ralph well qualified to serve on the federal board that mediates labour disputes in the airline and railroad industries. The nomination now moves toward consideration by the full Senate.
Why now: The committee vote moves a key airline-labour nomination forward at a time when union representation on the National Mediation Board matters to pilots and carriers.
