Deadly flash floods in northern Nepal have severely disrupted employment and livelihoods, with economic fallout reaching communities far beyond those directly hit, according to the International Labour Organization. The agency warns that damage to workplaces, infrastructure and local economies threatens jobs and incomes across the wider region, adding a longer-term employment crisis to the immediate humanitarian disaster.
Why now: The ILO's warning highlights that the disaster's economic impact extends well beyond the flooded areas, raising concern about recovery and livelihoods.
