Original: Commentary: Are Latter-day Saints heeding their prophets’ call and leading out against racism?

A Salt Lake Tribune commentary examines whether members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are following their leaders' repeated calls to oppose racism. The piece weighs church teachings against members' actions, asking whether the faith community is, as its prophets have urged, leading out against racial prejudice. It is prompting debate among readers about the gap between religious instruction and practice.

Why now: Ongoing public scrutiny of racism within religious communities has renewed attention to how Latter-day Saints respond to their leaders' appeals.
