Kremlin says Russia has no plans to use nuclear weapons

Original: Kremlin spokesman says Russia has no plans to use nuclear weapons

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russia has no plans to use nuclear weapons. The assurance comes amid ongoing tension over the war in Ukraine, during which Russian officials have repeatedly issued nuclear threats and Western leaders have warned of the risks of escalation. Observers are watching closely for any shift in Moscow's nuclear rhetoric, and Peskov's remarks are being read as an attempt to calm international concern.

Why now: Ongoing fears about nuclear escalation in the war in Ukraine make any Kremlin statement on nuclear use highly newsworthy.
