Man City to argue Abu Dhabi sponsorships were state-backed
Original: Man City to argue sponsorship deals came from Abu Dhabi government https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cjkg7g9
Manchester City will argue before the Premier League that its sponsorship deals, including Etihad Airways, were funded by the Abu Dhabi government rather than Sheikh Mansour personally. The dispute is part of the club's ongoing legal challenge to the league's associated-party transaction rules, which are designed to ensure commercial deals reflect fair market value.
Why now: The claim is central to Manchester City's high-profile legal battle with the Premier League over sponsorship rules and financial fair play concerns.
