The Defense Department is sending a third aircraft-carrier strike group plus Marine Corps ships to the Middle East, according to US officials, adding roughly 9,000 to 10,000 more troops to the region. The deployment of ships, jet fighters and Marines comes as President Trump considers renewing strikes on Iran, with any action reportedly weighed after the midterm elections.
