Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson reinstated, Hall of Fame eligible

Original: Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson were posthumously reinstated in 2025 -- making them eligible for the # Baseball Hall

Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson were posthumously reinstated to Major League Baseball in 2025, ending lifetime bans that had kept both off the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot. Rose was barred for betting on games as a manager, Jackson for his role in the 1919 Black Sox scandal. Fans and commentators are debating whether either will now be enshrined, and some are noting the timing alongside the rapid rise of sports betting and prediction-market advertising in baseball.

Why now: The reinstatement reversed decades-long bans on two of baseball's most famous figures, reopening debate over their Hall of Fame legacies amid a surge in sports gambling.
